As the month of February winds down, it is time to begin preparations for next month. And what is the best way to start a new month... A COVER PAGE! I have said this before, but one of my absolute favorite parts of bullet journaling is my ability to customize each and every element just the way I like it. Monthly cover pages are just one of the elements which are constantly changing and are a place where I can let my creative juices flow onto the page. The cover page, for me, is what determines the theme, design and color scheme of the entire month, which I then incorporate into my habit tracker, calendar and weeklies.
One of the ways I use to decide on a theme/color is the season. Typically winter months will be green & red or blue. Springtime allows me to showcase my pastel pink, purple, peach and blue. During summer, I use a lot of bright, almost neon colors, such as green, yellow, orange and purple. And fall, my favorite season of the all, is when I bring in the warm maroon, brown, gold and orange. Another factor I will use is whether there is a holiday that month. Typically, February will be red or pink thanks to Valentine’s Day, July is my time to highlight Independence Day using red, white and blue and December always calls for some green and red to celebrate Christmas.
Here are the ways in which I have designed my Hello March cover pages over the past 4 years! As you can see, each interpretation is different depending on what I had going on that year or what I was drawing inspiration from.
