Bullet journals, planners, calendars, they all have a purpose – they are meant to hold you accountable for your actions. While each person who uses one may have their own purpose in mind when first starting out, this is always the root of the reason. This is typically accomplished through the form of a monthly spread, weekly/daily spreads, habit trackers or any of the myriad of other ways which I have mentioned in my blog posts. However, one thing is always true for me: I am way lazier and hold myself to be much less accountable during the summer months! I claim that it's the combination of the heat and the fact that summer, by nature, is the time to relax and be care-free! But in actuality, it's just my excuse to not do a lot for 3 months straight ... and then complain after the fact that I did nothing all summer long. Does it make sense? No! But is that still what I tend to do? Yes!
As a way to combat this tendency, once I began my bullet journaling journeys, I started making bucket lists! I have found that my brain goes on high alert when there is a list around, and I become overly eager to accomplish the tasks on the list in order to be able check them all off! Plus this gives me a way to write down exactly what it is that I want to do with my time so that I am not disappointed, come September, and saying I wish I could start the whole summer over! Now, since it is summer after all, these bucket lists are typically filled with fun activities to get me out of the house and enjoying time with family and friends!
