Happy Fall Y'All - My Fall Bucket List

Ahh, it's finally September 22nd and you know what that means ... It is officially FALL!! That means pumpkins everywhere, mums, gourds, scarecrows, ghosts, crunchy leaves, hot tea and chilly mornings! In the fall, I am always in my happy place! There is just something about the changing leaves and the warm colors that always makes me all giddy inside!

And with the change of seasons, that signals for a new fall-themed bucket list! Now obviously we are still experiencing a pandemic, so some activities had to be cut or altered this year, but the list below is still filled with so many unbe-leaf-ably fun ideas!

My Fall 2020 Bucket List

  • Go for a hike

In my area, there are a lot of parks and walking trails, however, not too many hiking spots. Therefore, one of my goals for this season, now that the cool weather is upon us, is to seek out a nice place for a quality hike!

  • Picnic in the park

The chilly weather also means less humidity and fewer bugs, which is the perfect recipe for a relaxing picnic! As I mentioned, there are plenty of parks around, so all that's left to do is pick a date and pack the picnic basket!

  • Bake a pumpkin treat

This is easily one of my favorite goals for this season because I already have so many recipes saved! So the toughest part is going to be choosing which one to try first!

  • Enjoy a fall drink

Mmm, hot apple cider, pumpkin spice chai tea lattes, apple cider slushees and pumpkin hot chocolate! Just thinking about them makes me feel all happy inside! But watch out, because I just might turn into a pumpkin or an apple by the time winter rolls around!

  • Write a fall-themed letter

Writing letters to pen pals is something I started doing shortly after the pandemic began. I have always had a love for hand-written letters, and having the opportunity to connect with others who mutually enjoy that has been great! So I plan to integrate my fall flare into the pen pal community this season!

  • Eat s'mores

Such a classic fall treat – there is nothing quite like sitting around a campfire on a chilly fall evening roasting marshmallows and making s'mores!

  • Watch a halloween movie

I have to be honest here, I have never been keen on scary movies. Just the thought of them usually scares me half to death. But, not all hope is lost this season! I can still cozy up in front of the tv and watch one of my all-time favorite halloween movies: Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown or Twitches!

  • Burn a fall scent

On my dresser I have a scentsy and now I finally have an excuse to start burning my pumpkin maple wax melt! I have been waiting way too long for this moment!

  • Read a book set in fall

The exact book which I will read is still up in the air. Some ideas I have so far are: The Woman in Cabin 10 - by: Ruth Ware, Autumn, A Novel - by: Ali Smith or The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue - by: V. E. Schwab. Nonetheless, I am eager to immerse myself in a fall-themed read!

  • Make chili

When the temperatures drop and all I want to do is curl up on the couch and relax, the absolute best fall comfort food is a nice warm bowl of chili! Whether you spoon it over rice, scoop it up with crackers, dunk some corn bread into it or eat it straight up, what's not to love about chili!

  • Decorate!

Going to pick out pumpkins, scarecrows, mums and other fall-themed items is a tradition my mom and I have upheld for many years! Our house is always all decked out with the most gourd-geous decorations!

  • Fall inspired DIY project

I have been saving so many various ideas on Pinterest for signs to hang or plush pumpkins to put around the house, but for some reason I never end up following through with projects. I guess I assume it will not turn out, but this season I am gonna go for it! DIY Pinterest board, I'm coming for you!

  • Wear flannel

This one is so much fun! My favorite is going to a pumpkin patch or a corn maze while wearing flannel. For some reason, that particular article of clothing just makes you feel so much more connected to the fall season!

  • Get dressed up for halloween

Once we get to a certain age, it starts to seem silly to get all dressed up for a holiday. However, this year, I am throwing that thought out the window and I am putting on a costume! Now the fun part is deciding what I will be!

  • Enjoy a crisp morning walk/run

The forecast is calling for temperatures in the 50s and 60s during the morning hours throughout the next week. So you can bet that I will be taking advantage of that right away and all during this lovely season for my morning run!

  • Make a fall playlist

Music is my life, seriously, I always have music on no matter what I am doing! But I tend to get stuck in a rut with my playlists sometimes. So this season, I am branching out and discovering new jams that fit with my fall vibes!

  • Visit a farmers market/orchard

It is always so great to take the family to the farmers market and pick out some special treats or gifts from the vendors. And it's a blast going to a local orchard with friends to pick some fruit or have a photoshoot!

I hope this bucket list gives you some ideas for activities you can do this fall season! Be sure to get out and enjoy all that fall has to offer, because before you know it we will be talking about snow and holiday festivities! Happy fall y'all!
